Physiotherapy

Initial Assessment

The goal of my initial assessment is to develop an accurate clinical diagnosis. Future treatments will serve to treat the root cause of your pain, not just your symptoms. This will allow you to achieve long-lasting results rather than just temporary relief.

Your first visit gives me the chance to get to know you and your symptoms. I will conduct a detailed subjective interview of your medical history and current symptoms and/or injury. We will talk about your treatment goals and explore your interests and daily activities. This will allow me to tailor my treatment plan to your specific medical needs and therapy goals. Then I will perform an objective evaluation to assess the range of motion of specific joints, the strength of certain muscles, and relevant postural alignment. I may perform special orthopaedic tests as needed, and carefully palpate the painful / injured areas.

At your first visit, I may also provide relevant education on things like activity modification or symptom management. We will have the chance to begin some hands-on treatment, and I will prescribe a few initial exercises. My hope is that you leave your first visit feeling informed and confident in my care. My hope is that I can offer you some peace of mind regarding your concerns.

Treatment

My Approach:

I have developed a treatment approach which consists of manual therapy often, but not always, coupled with extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT). Manual therapy techniques that I employ include myofascial release (MFR) to address soft tissue restrictions, and joint mobilizations to increase the range of motion of joints throughout the body. I will regularly reassess your physical condition at follow-up appointments and adjust/modify my treatment approach as appropriate.

PhysioVie-Physiotherapy-Vaudreuil-Services-6.jpg

Yoga therapy combines yoga practices with rehabilitation. It is an active, self-empowering approach aimed at achieving individual client goals. Through guided yoga therapy, clients can improve their overall function, better manage their pain, and prevent further injury. I offer individualized yoga sessions characterized by an initial warm-up followed by a series of yoga poses. I guide the client through these therapeutic movement sequences, continually adapting to my client’s needs.
